A medical diagnostic centre in Lagos, Nigeria, is collaborating with the state government to offer COVID-19 tests to air travellers and businesses.

This Day Live reports that CoolSpring Molecular Laboratory in Victoria Island has been approved to provide RT PCR tests to arriving and departing air passengers, corporates and individuals.

RT-PCR uses RNA as a template to detect the presence of a virus in a DNA strand.

Austin Ebhomielen, chief medical director of FaithCity Hospital, the parent company of CoolSpring Molecular Laboratory, says the collaboration with the Lagos state government is key to fighting the coronavirus pandemic. ‘This accreditation will provide Lagosians with access to accurate and efficient COVID-19 PCR tests thereby increasing our testing ability as a country and bringing us nearer to eliminating the pandemic.’

He adds that appointments for the test can be made online, and results are guaranteed within 24 to 48 hours after sample collection.
