Stay connected Increased access to wireless technology in Africa has given rise to the concept of mobile health, resulting in the reduction of healthcare costs, fewer illnesses and lives being saved. Mobile technology has enabled connectivity for around 33 million Tanzanians, and now those with diabetes will be able to send their glucose levels to doctors using a smart-tech device introduced by Cumii International. According to a Tanzania Daily News report, the device (to be launched by the end of March) will encourage efficient diabetes management using the internet of things (the means by which devices are connected to people and other devices). 29 March 2016 Image: Gallo/GettyImages
