Community service The safe and responsible use of social media is coming under the spotlight in Côte d’Ivoire. ITWeb reports that the government’s Responsabilité Numérique (Digital Responsibility) 225 initiative will introduce education, awareness-raising and innovation programmes to encourage responsible and ethical use of social media sites. ‘We are taking a major step towards a safer and more enlightened digital future for both our country and our area by encouraging responsible usage of social media,’ said Communication and Digital Economy Minister Amadou Coulibaly, who is leading the scheme. Workshops, seminars and training courses will be held across the country to raise awareness, while an online platform will be set up to share tips on usage best practice.
