On the grid A massive US$1.8 billion solar project is set to boost Zimbabwe’s power capacity by 900 MW. In a joint partnership with a US investor, local firm Craft Properties is investing in solar developments across the country, as reported by Construction Review Online. The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority will also be involved in the execution of the projects. ‘The proposed mega solar projects will grossly benefit the country in terms of foreign direct investment [and] employment creation,’ says Kudakwashe Taruberekera, CEO of Craft Properties. Jobs for more than 4 000 people are expected to be created for a minimum of five years. The projects are set to commence early next year. 9 October 2018 Image: Pexels
