Ghana is aiming to achieve net zero carbon emission status by 2060, according to its newly released Energy Transition and Investment Plan.
Africa Business Communities reports that the plan, launched by President Nana Akufo-Addo on 10 October, outlines sustainable development measures that represent a US$550 billion opportunity for international investors. The plan also has the potential to create 400 000 jobs in Ghana’s economy.
‘This plan is a testament to our dedication to fostering green industries, nurturing the evolution of cutting-edge low-carbon technologies, and propelling our nation towards a sustainable industrial revolution while giving equal growth opportunities to men and women,” Akufo-Addo said at the launch.
The plan, developed by government with technical support from Sustainable Energy for All, targets four main areas of sustainable development: renewables, low-carbon hydrogen, battery electric vehicles and clean cookstoves.
