Important lessons An initiative supporting efforts to ensure the continuation of education amid the coronavirus pandemic has been unveiled in Ghana. In response to the closure of schools, the UN Children’s Fund, the government of Ghana and the MasterCard Foundation have launched the educational arm of the COVID-19 Recovery and Resilience programme to deliver distance learning across various channels. The programme will continue until May 2022, according to the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies. The project will implement virtual and distance learning through radio, SMS and online learning platforms to children across the country, including remote and rural areas. Learners will also be provided with Ghana Education Service-approved coursework and learning materials. Furthermore, those with access to digital platforms will have screen time with tutors.
