The World Bank’s latest Doing Business 2018: Reforming to Create Jobs report shows that Rwanda – with 52 – recorded the highest number of business reforms over the past 15 years.

According to CNBC Africa, a record number of 83 reforms were implemented in 36 out of 48 countries across the region in the past year. This represents 31% of all reforms implemented globally.

The report also lists Malawi, Nigeria and Zambia among the global top 10 improvers, while multiple economies across the continent implemented three or more reforms in the past year. These include Kenya (six); Mauritania, Nigeria, Rwanda and Senegal (five each); and Malawi, Mauritius and Niger (four each).

In addition, Rwanda ranks among the best globally in terms of registering property (at number 2) and getting credit (at number 6). It takes just seven days for businesses to transfer property in the country at a cost of 0.1% of the property value.
