A US$60 billion fund is being set up to drive a competitive, inclusive and secure artificial intelligence (AI) economy in Africa.
The Africa AI Fund forms part of the Africa Declaration on AI signed by 52 states at the Global AI Summit on Africa held in Kigali, Rwanda, in April, reports Businessday Nigeria
The fund aims to leverage funding from private, public and philanthropic capital to develop the continent as a leader in ethical, trustworthy and inclusive AI adoption, according to ITWeb Africa.
The declaratioon was facilitated by Kenya-based digital transformation consultancy Qhala, AU-affiliated Smart Africa and Rwanda’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It was supported by the Gates Foundation.
