Connected hub A 10 MW data centre has been opened in Lagos, Nigeria. Owned by Africa Data Centres (ADC), the LOS1 data centre is a Tier III facility located in the Eko Atlantic City special economic zone. It features five data halls installed across 2 000 m2 of white space (the area on which computer equipment is installed) and a client IT load of 5.7 MW. ADC says it has identified the West African nation as one of its key markets. ‘Nigeria is a critical African market in terms of leading the charge for hyperscale customers to deploy digitalisation solutions to West Africa.’ According to ADC CEO Stephane Duproz, the new facility is the first of four faculties being earmarked for Nigeria, adding that ADC plans to ‘build an additional facility in Lagos at a separate location to ensure full disaster backup, while Abuja and Port Harcourt will also get their own facilities’. 7 December 2021 Image: Gallo/Getty Images
