    Deal in motion

Plans for Ghana’s first lithium mine, the Ewoyaa Lithium project on the country’s coastline, have passed their final regulatory hurdle.

Mining Technology reports that Atlantic Lithium has secured a mine operating permit from the Minerals Commission of Ghana, a necessary step before the mining lease is finally ratified by Parliament.

The project, which also includes a processing plant, will target the mining of spodumene concentrate suitable for conversion to be used in electric vehicle batteries.

It is estimated that the site holds holds 14.5 million tons at 1.31% lithium oxide.

Atlantic Lithium expects the ratification of the deal in October.
