Fine art An African e-commerce platform dedicated to the continent’s creators and artisans is getting a US$3.4 million boost. Africa Business Communities reports that the International Finance Corporation (IFC) is making an equity investment into the Côte d’Ivoire-based ANKA platform, which caters to creators and artisans. The platform will use the additional funding to scale its operations and onboard another 100 000 creators by 2030. It currently serves 22 000 creators, mostly from Africa but also from North America, Europe and the Caribbean, who sell items such as clothes, jewellery and accessories. In addition to financing, IFC will help the platform train women retailers in financial literacy and other business skills and it will advise ANKA on its corporate governance framework. 26 September 2023 Image: ASphotofamily/Freepik
