Virtuous cycle A South African electronics supplier is taking a holistic, solar approach to implementing a sustainable energy solution for its warehousing and delivery vehicles ESI Africa reports that Altron Arrow is installing a 100 kV rooftop solar PV system that will power not only its warehouses and offices at Jet Park in Boksburg, Gauteng, but also recharging stations for a new fleet of electric delivery vans. The company – a joint venture between tech solutions provider Altron and electronic component supplier Arrow – is also launching an electric delivery van, the EC35, in partnership with logistics provider STC Logistics. The two-seater van has a carry load of one ton and can drive up to 280 km on one charge. ‘Smart cities, smart homes and smart transportation have the potential to improve lives while simultaneously growing demand for the products we sell,’ said Altron Arrow MD Renaldo Martins. ‘It’s a virtuous cycle that challenges us to keep improving our services and delivery performance, as we continue working to protect the environment,’ he said. 4 July 2023 Image: Freepik
