Building on innovation Another 1 million African entrepreneurs will be granted access to resources to develop their enterprises, under a new collaboration between a Nigeria-based non-profit and Google. Disrupt Africa reports that the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) and Google have launched the inaugural Google.org Fellowship to provide entrepreneurs with access to tailored tools, market partnerships, coaches and investors via the TEFConnect platform. The platform already connects 1 million African entrepreneurs with a global network of business leaders. Awele Elumelu, co-founder of the TEF, says the platform offers the continent’s entrepreneurs a space for growth, personal development and meaningful exchange. ‘We are pleased to continue to share our unique ability and platform to identify, train, mentor and fund young entrepreneurs across Africa.’ As the first Google.org Fellowship in Africa, the project will also see nine full-time Google employees – including software engineers, user-interface and user-experience researchers, and policy experts – working with the TEF to upgrade the TEFConnect platform. 29 March 2022 Image: Gallo/Getty Images
