Green deal A concession and power purchase agreement has been inked to build a 100 MWp solar PV plant in central Tunisia. Once complete, the power plant will have an installed capacity of 100 MWp, equal to an annual output of 223 171 MWh. It is expected that the plant will help mitigate 113 525 tons of carbon emissions each year, as reported by Africa Energy Portal. The electricity produced by the facility, which will be built in the Kairouan governorate, will be sold to the country’s state-owned power producer. The project forms part of a larger government plan to instal solar capacity of 2.8 GW by 2030. The winning consortium, comprising renewables developer AMEA Power and China’s Xinjiang New Energy, is expected to start work on the facility later this year. 29 March 2022 Image: Gallo/Getty Images
