A Kenyan e-health start-up has raised US$2 million in seed funding to scale its product into new African markets.

AfyaRekod’s digital platform enables health facilities to capture, store and have real-time access to patients’ health data, and the start-up already has more than 150 000 users across five countries.

‘Our mission is to empower patients by giving them access to their health data and to connect with the health ecosystem, including hospitals, pharmacies, insurance and beyond,’ says John Kamara, AfyaRekod founder and CEO.

The latest funding was led by the US-based Mac Venture Capital and Chymia, an Asian firm focused on blockchain-based companies.
