Investment gateway Kenya’s Special Economic Zones (SEZ) Authority has launched a multifunctional, one-stop-shop web portal to boost investor interest and improve service provision. ‘The portal is a repository that allows visitors to learn and interact in real-time with the authority on cross-cutting issues,’ says Meshack Kimeu, acting CEO of the SEZ Authority. He adds that it provides ‘information regarding opportunities and incentives, including investor roadmaps and facilities, available investment schemes and sectors, and administrative and tax incentives’. Potential and current investors can also use the website’s interactive platform to apply to lease available sites in the public SEZ parks, as well as access the resource centre, receive news updates and submit other online applications. Its investor roadmap will provide information on the requirements to start a business in Kenya. Using statistics and analysis reports, the SEZ Authority will update the website regularly on the state of the country’s socio-economic development. Current and new investment projects, as well as government initiatives and industry incentives, will also be listed as details become available. 31 August 2021 Image: Gallo/Getty Images
