Vital link South Africa’s Western Cape government has zero-rated access to the national COVID-19 vaccination registration website via its public WiFi hotspots. It says users’ monthly free 3 GB allocation will not be affected when they access the South African Electronic Vaccination Data System through its public internet locations. This will enable more people to register for vaccines ‘regardless of whether they live in rural settings or have limited access to the internet’. According to Premier Alan Winde, ‘this will bring us closer to reaching our registration targets in the province and administering the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine’. The hotspots are available in public buildings such as schools and libraries across the province. Users can find the closest location via the hotspot atlas on the Western Cape government’s website. Once connected, users can then follow the COVID-19 vaccination registration link on its landing page. 1 June 2021 Image: Gallo/Getty images
