In full swing In Morocco, construction has begun on the 150 MW Taza wind farm project. Phase 1 entails the installation of 27 wind turbines, with a total capacity of 87 MW. A further 18 turbines will be added at a later stage, according to developer EDF Renewables. The wind farm is being built to encourage socio-economic development in the Taza province and contribute to the nation’s 2030 goal of a 52% renewables share in energy production. The construction phase is expected to provide employment for 500 people and, once in operation, the wind farm will generate enough power to meet the annual consumption needs of 350 000 people while saving up to 200 000 tons of CO2. 22 September 2020 Image: Gallo/Getty Images
